If your puppy is not interested in food: Showing signs of anorexia
Give your puppy Pedialyte (preferred), or Gatorade. The electrically charged minerals (electrolytes) contained in these foods help maintain the life and function of cells in your puppy’s body.
Feed Gerber or Beechnut Baby Food (chicken or turkey & rice), or lamb and rice.
If not eating by him/herself, use a 12cc syringe for mouth feeding.
If your puppy has low blood sugar: Showing signs of weakness and lethargy.
Give puppy a ½ teaspoon of Nutrical or Karo Syrup 2-3 times daily.
Taking Care of your Puppy
Bath
Bathe not more often than every month. In winter, use dry shampoo or puppy bath wipes. If you must bathe, use lukewarm water, an aloe or oatmeal-based shampoo, and dry with a blow dryer. Always make sure the products (shampoos, conditioners, etc) are approved for puppy use.
Grooming
Brush your puppy twice daily; you may apply pet cologne (puppy approved) in small amounts while brushing.
Play
Initially, keep gentle playtime to no longer than 15 minutes per hour. Once you are confident that your puppy is comfortable in your environment, you may extend to 20 minutes per hour.
